On May 1st, the romantic Veranda Paul et Virginie Hotel & Spa celebrated its tenth year of existence, an opportunity for the Hotel Manager, Elodie Sooriah, to congratulate her teams and thank them for their dedication throughout these years: “I am proud of this reward which is the result of our efforts and reflects our dedication. I would like to thank my team members and our support services for their precious collaboration. This tenth anniversary was doubly celebrated as the hotel has just received the British Airways Holidays Customer Excellence Award 2022 in addition to the nomination of the hotel by the World Travel Award for the year 2023 in the category ”Mauritius’ Leading Boutique Hotel”. It’s in the heart of the small fishing village of Grand Gaube, in the north of Mauritius, that the hotel Veranda Paul et Virginie is nestled. Paul & Virginie

The name of the hotel is an emblem in itself: Paul et Virginie is a famous novel first published in 1788 by French Romantic author Bernardin de St-Pierre. It tells the story of two young lovers living in Mauritius, formerly known as “Isle de France” (hence the name of the hotel’s main restaurant).
Veranda Paul et Virginie pays homage to these fictional lovebirds with portraits of the couple in its rooms and common areas. Also on display is a model of Le Saint Géran, a ship featured in Bernardin de St-Pierre’s novel; it was wrecked off the coast of Grand Gaube, a stone’s throw from the hotel, in 1744.
