On May 1st, the romantic Veranda Paul et Virginie Hotel & Spa celebrated its tenth year of existence, an opportunity for the Hotel Manager, Elodie Sooriah, to congratulate her teams and thank them for their dedication throughout these years: “I am proud of this reward which is the result of our efforts and reflects our dedication. I would like to thank my team members and our support services for their precious collaboration. British Airways Award

The British Airways Holidays Customer Excellence Award 2022 is a recognition of the hotel’s commitment to providing memorable experiences that promote guest well-being. The award is based on unbiased customer reviews collected by Feefo, an independent and impartial third-party company. Guests are asked to rate hotels on location, service, cleanliness, sleep quality and overall experience.

Based on customer feedback, the overall rating of 4.6/5 stars underscores the excellent service, facilities and customer experience offered by Veranda Paul and Virginia throughout the year.

The scenic village of Grand Gaube

It’s in the heart of the small fishing village of Grand Gaube, in the north of Mauritius, that the hotel Veranda Paul et Virginie is nestled. For adults only, this 4-star hotel is the favorite place for couples looking for serenity and privacy. Grand Gaube is historically known as the place where traditional wooden ships called pirogues were made. Their colorful puffed-up sails are best admired during the village regattas.

From the hotel, you may opt for going along the beach, and its small, rocky coves that punctuate the coastline of this region. In the busy streets, Creole conversations resound like songs. Down on the beach, in the church square, children zigzag through parked cars and bikes as they chase after a balloon. Discover this authentic, simple, and charming culture in Grand Gaube.

Paul & Virginie

The name of the hotel is an emblem in itself: Paul et Virginie is a famous novel first published in 1788 by French Romantic author Bernardin de St-Pierre. It tells the story of two young lovers living in Mauritius, formerly known as “Isle de France” (hence the name of the hotel’s main restaurant).
Veranda Paul et Virginie pays homage to these fictional lovebirds with portraits of the couple in its rooms and common areas. Also on display is a model of Le Saint Géran, a ship featured in Bernardin de St-Pierre’s novel; it was wrecked off the coast of Grand Gaube, a stone’s throw from the hotel, in 1744.

A dedicated team

At Veranda Paul et Virginie, the greeting is warm and genuine. Facing you, the turquoise lagoon dazzles your eyes making your arrival even more magical. The decoration with smooth tones and rich in natural materials makes the hotel Veranda Paul et Virginie romantic as desired.

Here, everything is planned to make your stay unforgettable. We must say that the team members enjoy taking care of their guests, expressing the affection they feel for their hotel. From cocktails served by the infinity pool to in-room breakfast throughout the day, here you don’t have to worry about a thing!
The Hotel Manager also takes great pleasure in greeting her guests at every moment of the day.

Unique experiences

If you’d like to do more than sunbathe on your holiday, you’ll enjoy the array of water sports available at Veranda Paul et Virginie, including stand up paddling, kayaking & pedal boat. Fancy a romantic outing at sea? The hotel also offers at sunset a moment of happiness onboard a pirogue on the turquoise lagoon.

The hotel also features two magnificent swimming pools. Its infinity pool in particular offers exceptional views of the lagoon and the northern islands. Between dips, soak in the magic of the iconic Gunners’ Quoin, Gabriel Islet, Flat Island, and Round Island. If you’d like to admire them up close, make sure to join one of the daily cruises aboard the hotel’s catamaran.

And to really make the most of your romantic getaway, why not enjoy a torch-lit dinner barefoot on the hotel’s beach, or a delicious cocktail with a view at the Poudre d’Or bar? Rattan Natural elegance in decoration Veranda Grand Baie

posted by Elodie Ova 8th March 2023 0 comments

Rattan is a first-choice material in the Creole-chic decoration of Veranda Grand Baie. And for good reason, it creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere to the hotel’s interior areas and brings a tropical and refined touch to the decoration. You may be familiar with the famous rattan baskets that are very popular in Mauritius for storing fruits and vegetables, or for use as beach bags or picnic baskets.

At Veranda Grand Baie, you’ll find this material in different forms!

Rattan, a craft tradition in Mauritius

Rattan is a natural material that grows in the rainforests of Mauritius, and its use in local handicrafts dates back centuries. Mauritian artisans have long worked with rattan to create furniture and decorative accessories that reflect the culture and history of the island.

The traditional techniques of weaving and folding continue today with passionate craftsmen creating modern and elegant designs to incorporate into refined and environmentally friendly decor.

Meubles Meunier, the art of Handwoven

The Meubles Meunier company is a factory and shop specialized in the creation and repair of rattan furniture with more than thirty years of existence. Here, we work by love of our art with hand woven rattan, using the minimum of tools (especially no electrical equipment). Meubles Meunier is now the local partner of Veranda Grand Baie in the making of our armchairs and other rattan furniture and accessories! We are proud to work with passionate craftsmen who are committed to perpetuating their know-how.
