    Nathacha Appanah spent most of her teen years in Mauritius, and the island has provided endless inspiration for her award-winning novels. One of her most popular books is ‘The Last Brother’, which has been translated from French into English by Geoffrey Strachan. The book follows Raj, a young boy who is unaware of the dangers presented by Mauritius in 1944.

    Ananda Devi is easily one of Mauritius’ most esteemed writers; she has won many awards throughout her years as an author.
